Care & Cleaning Procedures
Engineered stone surfaces can be cleaned with warm water and mild soaps, such as those for hands and dishes. Non– abrasive household cleaners such as Fantastic and Formula 409 may also be used. Cleaning products containing bleaching agents should not be used on engineered stone surface. Abrasive cleaners (such as Comet and Bon Ami) should not be used on engineered stone. These products may dull the finish.
While most everyday spills can be removed with soap and water, some troublesome spills and stains such as food dye, tea and fruit drinks and dried stains may require more aggressive cleaning. These items can be removed using a nonabrasive cleaning pad such as a white Scotch-Brite scrub pad coupled with Formula 409 Glass & Surface Cleaner or a comparable cleaning product.
Do not expose the surface to harsh chemical, such as paint remover, turpentine, nail polish remover (acetone) or stove and drain cleaners. If these chemicals come in contact with the surface, immediately wash them off with water, using appropriate safety measures to avoid injury.
Do not place hot items directly on the surface. Hot pans and heat producing appliances (electric skillets, crock pots, coffee pots, etc.) must be placed on a trivet with legs. Take care when placing pots on a cooktop or stove burners, make sure the pot or pan is not overhanging onto surface of countertop.
Cutting boards should be used instead of cutting directly on the surface. Darker colors may show scratches more easily, felt pads or placemats should be used under ceramics, silver or other objects that may scratch the surface.
Cleaning All Finishes
Most Dirt and Residue Use soapy water, rinse and wipe dry.
Water Marks Wipe with a damp cloth and wipe dry.
Difficult Residue Use a small amount of Formula 409 Glass & Surface Cleaner and a nonabrasive cleaning pad such as a white Scotch-Brite scrub pad. Avoid using cleansers that contain bleach. Rinse thoroughly to remove any hazy residue and dry.
For materials that harden as they dry, such as gum, food, grease, or paint, remove by gently scraping away the excess with a plastic putty knife.
Ink and permanent markers may adhere to the surface and should be avoided. Should these agents come in contact with your surface, clean first as outlined above. If stain persists, moisten a cloth with Saniten 313, Greased Lightning or another comparable product and rub into stain using a soft cloth. Let sit for 15 minutes and wipe clean. Rinse surface removing any cleanser residue.
